Tandoori Chicken is a traditional Indian dinner that is slightly spicy but also cool at the same time. It does require prep-work the day before the cook, but it is not a difficult recipe by any means, and is pretty much a two part process. Part one: marinate. Part two: cook. What could be easier?
Apple Pie
Like last week, this is also not a healthy recipe. It is amazingly delicious, however. The sauce could easily be used as a soft caramel fudge if you wanted to use it by itself. This recipe does not include any pie crust, so you can make your own or just use store bought. We made our own, and latticed it across the top. It was wonderful.
Whole Wheat Cinnamon Rolls
Love cinnamon rolls but wish they were healthier? Sorry, this is not the recipe for you. While it does use whole wheat for a slightly healthier meal, this contains a lot of butter and sugar, so it is still fairly bad for you. That being said, these are fantastic and you should eat them. Oozing with melted frosting, bursting with flavor, these are a delightful indulgence that you shouldn’t pass up.
The Best Quesadilla
This past week was Cinco de Mayo, a day which many Americans use as an excuse to drink margaritas and eat Mexican food. We didn’t have any drinks, but we did make what is perhaps the most delicious quesadilla I have ever tasted. Slightly sweet and tangy, this recipe takes a bit of time because of all the ingredients involved, but it is so worth it. This is also a 100% Ashley Original Recipe. Not much more can be said about this meal other than the fact that it is amazing, so read on to get the full scoop. The quesadilla contains grilled chicken, caramelized onions and cubano peppers, roasted poblano and balsamic relish, with goat cheese. YUM
Food Country Japan : Okonomiyaki
Whenever I hear a food has cabbage in it, I tend to think I won’t like it. Although that isn’t always the case, there is something about the idea of cabbage that usually makes me turn up my nose. So trying okonomiyaki was quite the leap outside my comfort zone. However, I’m glad I tried it because it is quite good. Okonomiayki also brought us back to our original idea for the blog: writing about food from other countries.
Okonomiyaki is a savory Japanese cabbage pancake. It is fairly versatile in the fact that you can add many different vegetables to the mixture, which makes it a neat way to sample different fresh vegetables. As the primary ingredient is cabbage, the cabbage flavor is pretty predominant without being overpowering, and is actually very nice. This recipe also basically makes one giant pancake, and you then cut it up and serve it.
